The building itself had recently undergone a major renovation, so everything was new. A beautiful victorian manor, the renovations have maintained the charm of the place while providing modern amenities. Very well done. The staff were great - extremely polite and helpful, we lost our luggage en-route and the staff helped us to recover it. I think they went the extra mile. Breakfast (full English) was cooked to order and very tasty - proper bacon and sausage, also very good selection of bread, spreads etc. The dining room and bar areas very well designed, retaining the We also went for a walk around the grounds, over a bridge and down the river, about 1 hours walk - very nice, everything well maintained. Also the location was excellent - rural but only 25 mins drive to York centre.

The hotel is beautiful and in a great location we were staying in a room within the bunkers building. All was well until we turned the lights off at which point we realised there was a green light directly above the bed. Also when the people in the next room used the bathroom we heard everything very clearly there seemed to be zero noise insulation at all. We managed to get to sleep but then at 3am some fellow guests arrived and had a conversation directly outside our door then proceeded to their rooms causing considerable noise from toilets flushing water running etc. I expected better if I am honest we left feeling as if we had no rest at all. I look forward to hearing from you in relation to this.

The hotel is lovely and just what we were looking for that weekend - tranquility. The place is spotless , it’s really clean and tidy. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. We stayed in the main building in a classic room with a garden view. The only downside was the food in the main restaurant (The Elements). Breakfast choice and set up wasn’t the best and quite expensive. Dinner at the Elements was also somewhat disappointing. Our favourite place was the bar and its outside area. The atmosphere there was amazing. Overall I’d still definitely come back to this place and would recommend it. It’s beautiful.

A stunning hotel in beautiful grounds. All the staff were so friendly and the service was exceptional. We actually decided to stay an extra night and though our room wasn't available for an extra night we got another one and they made sure we didn't have to wait long between checking out of the original room to the new one. The new one was completely different from the previous one but was absolutely stunning. The hotel have spared no money in the luxurious decoration and furniture in the bedrooms and throughout the hotel. We will definitely stay here again and next time my husband will make use of the golf course which is lovely.

The room was absolutely amazing. We stayed in the junior suite which was much bigger than expected. The bed was huge and so comfy, the bathroom was beautiful with Molten Brown products, bath robes and slippers and there was even a full sized Christmas tree in the room! It was far beyond what I expected it to be and great value for money. I've stayed in hotel rooms a third of the size that cost much more. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was really nice too. The setting was lovely and so peaceful. I would recommend a stay here to anybody and will definitely be returning again at some point.
